We are currently accepting applications for the Leadership Long Beach Institute Class of 2027 - the 37th Class of community leaders.

Below are the dates for the upcoming program - beginning in September 2026. A full commitment of participation is expected. Please confirm you are available for these dates:

Saturday, January 16, 2027: MLK Day Parade

Monday, January 18, 2027: MLK Day of Service

Thursday, February 4, 2027: City Government

Thursday, March 4, 2027: Nonprofit

Thursday, April 1, 2027: Arts and Culture

Thursday, May 6, 2027: Business

Thursday, June 3, 2027: Last Day

Thursday, June 10, 2027: Graduation

The following topics will be covered throughout the classes: City Government, Nonprofits & Society's Resources, Arts, Culture & the Creative Economy, Healthcare & Human Services, Law & Public Safety, Education, Business & Social Responsibility, and Environment & Sustainability.

Activity/Topics subject to change due to the availability of presenters, facilities and resources.

Participants must agree to the following: *

Class Sessions are held the first Thursday of each month from September through June, typically from 9:00 am to 5:30pm. Exceptions to this are the Retreat (October 23-25, 2026), MLK Day Parade (January 16, 2027), MLK Day of Service (January 18, 2027), and Graduation in June. Absences from class are discouraged, and all participants are required to comply with absentee policy.
Group Projects are an essential element of the program. A significant amount of time outside regular monthly session time is required during the program to strategize, organize and complete these community benefit activities.
Tuition - $4,995. Applicants are responsible for the tuition whether an employer or organization expressed intent to cover the expense.
Applicants may also be eligible for scholarships to offset a portion of their tuition. Scholarships are limited, and are typically designated for candidates from nonprofits, small businesses, and individuals expressing financial need. Scholarship awards typically range from $1,000 to $2,000.
Tuition payment agreements will be sent to all applicants upon acceptance to the program.

Qualified applicants will be scheduled for interviews with the Leadership Long Beach Selection Committee comprised of alumni volunteers. Interviews will be conducted in July. A member of our team will reach out to schedule your interview after reviewing your application.

Leadership Long Beach Institute Scholarship Information

Leadership Long Beach has multiple scholarships available for Institute program participants. Eligibility requirements vary by scholarship. Please complete the fields below to be considered for one of our scholarships. Only one scholarship will be awarded per eligible candidate; multiple scholarships will not be awarded to a single applicant. Scholarship awards typically range from $1,000 to $2,000.
